ELLIOTT 3.5

Last week was Elliott's half birthday. Yes, half. We had a grand day of story time, the park and of course, yummy food. He was so excited this time around! It's never as big of a deal as a real birthday, but we still like to spoil a little bit so we gave him a few gifts we thought he would like. More on those coming up soon! It's hard for me to restrain sometimes, to not throw a party or go overboard. Sometimes simpler is better, yes?

I can't believe how quickly Elliott is growing up. He's preschool aged! Yikes! I'm just thankful he still lets us see the toddler in him every now and then. Happy half birthday my boy! We love you so.

AROUND HERE

I hope you all had a great weekend and Father's day! We had a grand time spoiling Preston. Elliott and I made him breakfast, gave him a few gifts (the checkers board was a hit!), and I made dinner. As you can see it had something to do with a whole chicken. This was my first time dealing with a chicken that hadn't been skinned, gutted and boned, and packaged. I know, I'm such a pansy! In my defense, I once had to assist a chicken farmer in Argentina kill and pluck a couple of chickens. Which was obviously far worse than preparing a chicken for dinner. Nonetheless, it was gross but doable and absolutely worth it. The meal was delicious! For dessert I made chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches which as I mentioned, are his two favorite desserts in one. So, yes. They were a hit as well! It really was a fantastic weekend. We love you to the moon, Preston.

HAPPY WEEKEND!

Hooray for the weekend + hooray for dads! I'm always more excited for holidays than Preston, but he always loves Father's day. Even if he says he could care less..he loves the thoughtful handmade gifts and meals prepared just for him. And I love doing it for him! This is the first year that Elliott knows that the things he has helped me make are for daddy's day and it's a secret. I do wish that we could be with my dad of course. All he wanted this year were frame-able pictures of the grand-kids (aww). Done and done! Do you do anything special on Father's day? I'd love to hear any traditions you might have.

Have a wonderful weekend, friends! Here are my favorite links for the week. Enjoy!

The perfect summer party.

Absolutely doing this.

These look amazing.

Love this idea.

Simple and kinda perfect dad gift.

If I ever have a child with fine hair (yeah, right!) I am so getting this.

Cute + simple. How we like it around here.

WISH LISTED: PRESTON EDITION

A little Father's day wish list for my man. He has worn this same cologne for five years - I love it! It smells so very nice. Our Father's day is going to be very low-key as far as gifts go this year, but this will be a nice "go to" list for future gifts. He'll definitely be having the chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches. His two favorites in one dessert! What are you giving this Father's day? I'd love to hear!

MEMORIAL DAY

I hope you all had a wonderful memorial day. The forecast had originally said we would get rained out, but we are so glad the weatherman was wrong! The water in the local parks was finally turned on, so of course we had to get in on that. Would you look at Elliott's shorts? I mean, they were tight and small to begin with. That's just the style of them. But now? It's getting to be a little much. I'm thinking he might need some new ones. Yes? Maybe I'll try these ones next.

For the rest of the day, we spent time with friends, grilled up some delicious food some of which was corn (yum!) and Elliott, being the proper lad he is, insisted on eating his with a fork. He gave up after a valiant effort of 5 minutes. And we ended the day with some patriotic (kind of?) strawberry shortcake! All in all a fantastic day.
