AROUND HERE

This weekend was the perfect amount of stress, fun and shopping. I have to put shopping in its own category because admittedly I am not generally a big shopper. This weekend my sister and I (and Elliott) went back to school shopping for the kiddos. Her two kids actually go to school, but Elliott was in need of some fall clothing. Really I just wanted an excuse to buy this for him. Can't wait for cooler weather so I can put him in it! Preston and I also went to a concert in the park to see Iron & Wine. It was amazing to say the least. I could have done with out the people who were talking so loudly I could barely hear the music towards the end, but you know. Comes with the territory I suppose. We also watched an absurd amount of House Hunters. I get all worked up when the people pick the wrong house. Because it's obviously the wrong house and I am obviously right. ha! We had a pretty great weekend. No, the cyclists pictured above do not suggest that I was in a bike race. I was merely stuck in the traffic caused by the bike race. So still involved, but not in a cool way. We spent some good time with family and had some super delicious roasted brussel sprouts. For some reason, hanging out with kiddos helps get my creative ideas juices flowing. My little muses. So not only is it a blast to play with them, but it's productive too! This weekend we did a lot of outdoor play including a homemade water slide, got a little sunburned and Preston and I went on a date! To the drive in! It was so much fun and our car was perfect for cuddling up in the trunk with blankets and pillows. I used to go to the drive in with friends back in my college days, but this was Preston's first time. He loved it! As movie buffs, we can definitely appreciate two movies for the price of one. Bonus: we loved both of the movies! Have you ever been to the drive in? Did you love it? I think it's a new favorite for us. Happy Monday!

I hope your weekend was a good one. Ours was busy busy, but a lot of fun. How bout those Olympics huh? We're excited to keep watching and rooting for our teams. I know I am so late to the party, but I finally was able to see Moonrise Kingdom. Or as my mom would call it "Moonshine Revolution!" Totally different movie, Mom. It was a fantastic film, I can't wait to see it again! Definitely my new favorite from Wes Anderson...and that's saying something! Happy Monday!

We have been having way too much fun around here. We've gone to the pool a few times, enjoyed the scenery, and went berry picking (in the back yard!) Elliott has been having a blast with his cousins. He can't get enough of them. And neither can I! You'll notice that little man is using a squirt bottle at the water park. They are awesome. Way better than a squirt gun. Easier to use, cheaper and far more effective. Just my 2 cents on the subject.
