JEWELRY DISH FOR MOM

Easy clay jewelry dish for Mother's day (click through for instructions)
Make mom a cute new jewelry dish this year!

Mother's day is coming up fast and we have been crafting it up for the big day over here. Elliott helped me make this cute little jewelry dish admittedly for myself, but such is the life of a DIY blogger, right? He loved helping me roll out the clay, cut it and paint it. This would be a great gift to give to grandma too! Check out the full tutorial over here on Momtastic and have fun making your own with your kids!

EASY YARN ART

Need some fun and unique art for your home? Of course you do! I made this the other day with Elliott and we had a great time doing it. We made some little hearts as well, but I think a shapes learning activity might be in order next! All you need to make your own is some yarn, glue, and parchment paper.

First write out your word or shapes with the glue. Don't be shy with it! The more the better.

Carefully lay your yarn on top of the glue pushing gently as you go. Feel free to adjust it as you see fit! Next add more glue to the top and sides of the yarn using your fingers to smooth the glue over. You want the yarn to be pretty soggy. Wait for it to dry completely (probably over night) then carefully pull it up from the parchment paper, scrape the excess glue off and hang it up with a couple of finishing nails. Easy. right?

I want to make one for Elliott's room, but I am having a hard time deciding on what it should say. Suggestions welcome!

Just a quick and fun printable for your Thursday! These decals have been so much fun on our mirror. Elliott and I have been having a blast acting out the different sayings. He thinks the "AAHH" one means he's supposed to pretend to be Kevin from Home Alone. I'll take it! You can download them right here. Just print them out onto adhesive transparent sheets, cut and stick them on! I wouldn't recommend moving them a lot. But they should be fine so long as you don't rub the ink off. These would be fun to pop onto someone's mirror without them knowing for a fun little surprise!

RUBBER CEMENT EGGS

Rubber cement eggs

Last Easter post? Maybe! If you are looking for a fun last minute way to give your dyed eggs some pattern, try rubber cement. Yep, rubber cement. After trying hot glue and having a straight up crafting failure with that, rubber cement was my second try and it turned out perfectly. Check out the full tutorial over here on Handmade Charlotte. If you are making these with little ones, please watch them closely. If they have to I.D. me when I buy rubber cement, we probably shouldn't leave our littles unattended with it. Right? Right. Have fun and happy Easter!

POM POM EGGS

DIY pom pom Easter eggs!
Easy DIY pom pom Easter eggs!

If you are looking something fun and a little different this year for your eggs, may I suggest these pom pom eggs? Elliott and I had a blast making them and he just thinks they are the cutest things ever. He also mentioned there could be alien babies inside, but you know. Besides being cute - or other worldly - they also provide some cushion for the eggs. Just saying. If you want to make some - and you know you do - you can see more over here on Momtastic
