DIY VALENTINE WREATH

I'm not huge on holiday decor, but every now and then the desire to make and hang/place something festive strikes me. And so, the valentine wreath was born! I really like how the tissue paper colors change as they overlap. I would have had Elliott help me, since this project is so easy, but alas he was napping. But! You can make one. Ready?

Supplies:
Poster board or card board
Tissue paper
Spray adhesive
Two different sizes round objects
Pencil
Hole Punch
String
Scissors

Trace the larger round object onto the poster board.
Trace the smaller one inside the larger circle. Be careful to center it!
Cut a slit in the center of the smaller circle and cut on the lines to get the wreath shape.
Punch your hearts out! I found that using several layers of tissue paper at a time helped the hearts to turn out great. Sometimes if you are trying to punch through tissue paper, it rips and you cry. It's a fact.
Sort your pretty piles if you are an OCD freak like me.
Spray the wreath with the spray adhesive. Not too thick but not to lightly either. One of those just right scenarios.  The glue I used is clear and tacky. Perfect for this project! Start placing the hearts on the wreath and press them firmly. You may get some creases. Just "iron" over them with your finger. They'll come out.
You're nearly done! Just punch a hole where you would like the top to be, string it and hang it!

DIY LEATHER CARD CASES

I made these little card cases to take with me to Alt Summt to hold my business cards I will be passing out. I decided to try and make them a little unique and not really something you would see in a store. I went with the house shape that's so ever popular and of course, a hexagon. I thought the hexagon would match my cards well. It only took about 10-15 minutes to make one, so if you need one, give it a try!

You'll need:
Leather
Pen / Pencil
Cutting mat
Rotary blade
Thread / Embroidery Floss
Ruler
Paper
Needle
Awl

Make your template and trace it onto your leather.
Cut out the shape, use the ruler to ensure a straight edge. After you have your shape, measure and create the holes for sewing using the awl. For the black case I only had to sew the sides because the leather was folded in half and sewn together. With the hexagon, it was made from various pieces of leather, so it involved more sewing.

DIY MINI COOKIE CAKES

These little "cakes" are unbelievably easy to make and oh so delicious. And did I mention they're mini? They aren't terribly sweet. Kind of one of those "oh, that was just right" type of desserts. You know the kind. Here's how you can make your very own for your next get-together.

Recipe:
2 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
Sugar - to taste
Chocolate wafer Cookies
Vanilla - 1Tbs

Mix the whipping cream on high until it starts to thicken. Then add the vanilla and sugar and keep mixing till it's a little fluffy and plenty mixed.
Use the wafer cookies like layers of cake. Make them as tall as you want!
Then frost the outside. They don't have to be that pretty. They make up for it in taste.
I like to take a wafer and break it in have then rub the pieces together to create a cookie dust on top of each mini cake. It seems fancier for some reason. Now put them all into the fridge for a few hours. While they are in the fridge the frosting soaks into the cookies making them soft and more cake like. Amazing, right?
Now serve them up and enjoy!
Aren't they pretty? I love the black and white stripes!
