JACK-O-LANTERN TREAT BOXES

DIY jack-o-lantern treat boxes

Halloween is officially a week away. One week! We aren't throwing a Halloween party this year (my heart is breaking over it) but if we were, we would definitely make more of these jack-o-lantern treat boxes for our guests! They are easy and fast to make and the kids would love them. You could even have the supplies available so they can make their own faces! You can see the full tutorial I did over on Handmade Charlotte. Enjoy!

HALLOWEEN PUPPETS

If you want your kids to have some good Halloween fun and you want to make something fast, this is it. Elliott has been playing non-stop with these since we made them! He has asked me to do Frankenstein and a vampire next. This kid doesn't know how good he's got it. The puppets are really simple to make, just cardboard, duct tape, scissors and popsicle sticks. After a few minutes creating the tops of the puppets by covering the cardboard with duct tape, decorate your sticks and tape them on! So, so easy and so, so fun. We've been having a blast acting out scenes with them in our puppet theater. Spooky stories told by a five year old can be both adorable and graphic, so watch out for that and have fun!

DUCT TAPE GHOST SHIRT

Duct tape ghost shirt DIY | And We Play

I love dressing up for the month of October for Halloween. It's a lot of fun! But last year I made a shirt for Elliott with some fabric paint and though I liked how it turned out and it was fun for him to wear, he really only got to wear it for a few weeks, then we had this Halloween shirt laying around that I didn't want him to wear and I knew would be too small before next Halloween. Please tell me I am not the only one. I came up with a solution! Duct tape shirts! They are really simple to make, the tape stays on all day (trust me, we have tried) and when you're done you still have a useable shirt. It's a total win, win!

To make your own, just lay some strips of duct tape onto a cutting mat and use an xacto knife to cut out the shapes then peel them up!

Next place the duct tape pieces onto your shirt and press them on. And when you're done, put it on your kid and watch them love it!

Elliott's best "De Niro". Not bad, right?

MIME COSTUME

This one was a blast for us. Elliott loved pretending to be a mime! He actually got pretty good at the whole "walking down the stairs" bit. He loved this so much, he tried to change his halloween costume to be this. We debated back and forth and finally settled on him being a mime for one of the parties we are going to. Ah, parenthood. It's all about compromises! This costume is seriously so easy to throw together. We got the hat, face paints and gloves from the party store and everything else we already had! If you don't already have suspenders, you can make your own right here. If you are in need of a quick, easy and fun costume, this is it! Have fun!

GRAFFITI ARTIST COSTUME

This might be the easiest costume in the history of ever. All you need is some street clothes like a hoodie or t-shirt, some jeans, sneakers and then throw in a painters mask and of course, you can't forget the cans of spray paint! Or in our case, silly string. You can turn those silly string cans into spray paint with these super easy printables! Just print them out, cut and tape them on. You can even let the little ones color them if you want. It's all good! If you have some old clothes you could add some little spots of spray paint too, it's all in the details right? If only we could take these rad walls with us trick or treating. More costume ideas coming soon!
