ONE FOR THE MEMOIR

I spoke with Martha

OK, so not exactly. Alt in just a few short days and I am speaking! I have a ton to prepare including a slideshow presentation (no pie charts, I promise!) and of course, my business cards. If you know about Alt, you know that being asked to speak is a dream come true. Alt is like summer camp for bloggers and it's really amazing. It's a few days packed full of great speakers, amazing sponsors and parties. Speaking of speakers (besides me) the two keynote speakers are Joy from Oh Joy! and Martha. As in Stewart. So yeah. I will definitely be adding to my memoirs "I spoke with Martha". Just let me have it. Alt is in January, but this year they decided to add another even in June which I think is awesome because I love Utah in the summer. It's my favorite season, hands down. I can already tell this event is going to be incredible and I am so excited to speak on being a contributor. You know those posts I put up here that link to other sites for all of the DIY details? Yeah those. Those are how I make my bread and butter and so I will be talking a little on that. Along with three other amazing blogger gals. If you are going, please say hi! If not, I am sure you will bore of reading about it on every social media outlet in existence. And you should totally come next time. On that note! I'll be back on Monday with another fun project I have been itching to share and then I'll be off for a few days of nerve-racking fun. I hope you have a great weekend and a wonderful, awesome, fantastic Father's Day!

GIANT FATHER'S DAY CARD

And I mean giant. Every dad would love getting this card for Father's day and the kids will love making it! We filled the inside with drawings of things Elliott likes to do with Preston. But you can fill it with whatever you want! A list of reasons they love dad, some hand prints, some original works of art. Keep in mind though that the paper is paper and if you use markers, try to stick to the right hand side of the card when it comes to coloring. Otherwise the marker might seep through the cover of the card and that is no bueno. You can download it right here. And for those of you with more than one kid, here's the download for you. There's plenty of room for them all to get in on the fun! Per usual with our oversized printables, take the file to Staples and they will do the work for you. It's 24x36 inches and costs a whopping $3 to print. Totally worth it. When you get it home, just fold it in half and set the kids free!

This is what the inside of Elliott's looked like. It's a roller-coaster, a slide, some books and a few hearts. Obviously.

FATHER'S DAY TREAT TROPHIES

To go along with our medals we made last week, I decorated some little trophies too! We made one for Preston and one for my dad (Papa to Elliott) who lives close by. Elliott picked out the spray paint colors. He is really good at remembering everyone's favorite colors. Though with my dad's he chose "greenish yellowish" because Papa's first favorite color is green, then yellow. That kid. To make them I just covered the bottoms with tape and primed and spray painted them. I covered the inside of the trophy with tape as well, because I didn't feel like having candy on a spray painted surface would be wise. But, to each their own! Once they were totally covered and dry, I removed the tape. Then I cut some letters out of duct tape with an x-acto knife (typical, right?) I wanted them to kind of match the medals in some way, so the lettering is the connection. We filled them with some pretty (and tasty) treats and Elliott is so excited to gift them on Sunday! Assuming we can keep ourselves from eating the candy. And that's a big assumption.

HAPPY WEEKEND + LINKS

Bubbles!

I am so ready for the weekend! The next few days are going to be pretty normal. Nothing too exciting going on. Which sounds perfect after a hectic week. Preston and I are planning a date at home and we will probably hit up a park or a splash pad sometime this weekend too. With weather like this, it would be a crime not to! The other day, Elliott got this bubble maker that blows out bubbles really fast and we have been having a blast playing with it! Shooting them at each other, making them stick to our arms, heads and torsos. It reminds me of that bubble lady on Ghost Busters. Yikes! On that note, have a grand weekend. May it be filled with ice cream, sunshine and fun. Always lots of fun. Happy weekend!

Now for the links:

Does every dad love chocolate chip cookies? This recipe looks amazing.

The coolest, nerdy party ever.

A new (and tastier) meaning to fruit cake!

I think I need to make one for Elliott.

Cutest clothes rack you ever did see.

Kids need glasses too! Make them good ones.

I'm dying over this little purse for kids. It's perfect.

Did you hear about Amy Poehler's new book? I can't wait.

These are on my "popsicles I must make" list.

MAGNETIC PLAY CLOCK

TICK TOCK.png

Elliott has no concept of time. He thinks 5 minutes and 5 hours are pretty much the same thing. And that 6 o'clock is late. Maybe I should enjoy the ignorance a little longer? Don't get me wrong, it's much easier to let him be clueless and tell him "5 more minutes" and actually take 30 minutes. But you know, there's that whole being a good parent thing. It really nags at you after a while. So! I made this printable magnetic clock for him to play with and hopefully learn a little more about telling time. If you want one of your own, you can get the download over here on Handmade Charlotte.  All you need to make your own is a ink jet magnetic sheet, the download and some scissors. Oh and a magnetic surface to put it on. Easy, right? Check it out and have fun!
